1. The Kindle Fire - Burn baby BURN!

Even though the Kindle Fire has only really just touched down, it already feels like it could fill a comfortable niche in the current tablet marketplace. It’s no iPad…TRUE! But does this matter? With a price that will attract a broader range of consumers this attractive color handheld has been cleverly positioned by Amazon.

The Kindle is great, and like the new Fire it stakes it’s claim clearly in the tablet market as a ‘digital book’ that not only gives you a library in your pocket, but also takes brings the book and the delivery of the written word into the 21st century.

So what is so great about the Fire and will it hit the same sweetspot the Kindle has? I think it will. It’s much cheaper than the Apple iPad offering, looks pretty and it’s well executed. Do you need an iPad? Why? If it’s apps and an Apple logo you’re after then go for it…but for day-to-day media consumtion on the move. Get the Fire.

  2. Google Vs Faux Content (Aka Demand Media)

Demand Media…only just heard of them (does that mean I’m not down with the cool kids?), well it seems that Google is applying a large amount of resource to ensure that these guys don’t steal the search result limelight from us regular folk.

    Is this a good thing?

If I search for something I’d rather get results from individuals or businesses that are participating in the topic they are creating comment about. I know that Demand hire freelancers to write content, and I’m sure they are very knowledgeable about the topics at hand…but they are being paid to create this and like many tabloid journalism today I think we could safely question the quality and value of this content.

It’s content to sell ads by…nothing more…nothing less.
